Bob Greenwood to present again at SOLD

Service Opportunities Learning Days (SOLD) has announced its 2016 theme as “Taking service to the next level.”

Scheduled for Jan. 24-25, 2016, before Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week, SOLD will begin on Sunday with an afternoon session from service management expert Bob Greenwood.

SOLD organizers says Greenwood’s afternoon presentation will include answers to the following:

  • When does out business require one or both service manager and general manager? Does the size of the company determine either or both?
  • What duties should a service provider expect the service manager to perform? How does one assemble a job description?
  • What experience level should one expect from the applicant?
  • What responsibilities are service providers willing to turn over to the service manager? The ‘inner circle’ of the heavy-duty shop must be formed and held accountable. How do we do this?
  • How does one find the right person to perform the service manager duties? Is national recruitment necessary? How does one do this?
  • How does one compensate the service manager? What is the formula using performance and accountability to achieve professional wages?
  • If a general manager is required, where do service manager duties end and general manager duties begin?
  • What responsibilities and authorities are given to the general manager to allow the maximum proper performance?

Greenwood’s presentation will be followed on 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, with multiple sessions and discussion panels featuring nationally known experts, association executives, and progressive aftermarket manufacturer representatives. Topics will include technician recruitment and training and aftermarket tool advancements.
