SOLD announces preliminary agenda for 2017 event

NATEF President Trish Serratore, Mike Betts, CEO at Betts Company and Mike Woods, national diesel program manager at Universal Technical Institute, have been confirmed as presenters at the 2017 Service Opportunities Learning Days (SOLD), scheduled for Jan. 22-23, 2017, at the Mirage in Las Vegas before Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW).

SOLD organizers say Serratore will review plans for revisions to the NATEF medium- and heavy-duty task list tool and equipment and accreditation model. The expected outcome of the revisions is a more tiered accreditation model that might begin with preventive maintenance inspections and then move into more complex tasks.

Both Betts and Woods will speak on the technician shortage.

Betts and Betts Truck Parts & Service have been working with the high schools and colleges in the Central Valley of California to institute and improve programs in diesel truck fully accredited programs. Betts plans to speak on his success story, and share thoughts on how other service providers can repeat the successful plan in their communities.

Woods will then discuss how UTI is addressing the technician shortage issue and striving to provide highly qualified technician candidates to the industry. An industry veteran, Woods has years of experience both in the service and technical education spaces.
