Jacobs launches engine brake for Mercedes-Benz engine

Jacobs Vehicle Systems has announced it will be the supplier of the engine brake for the Mercedes-Benz 13-liter OM471 diesel engine that has been released on the new Actros.

The new Model OM471 engine brake by Jacobs will be standard equipment and works on the compression release principle, acting on a single exhaust valve using Jacobs’ exclusive dedicated cam-operated, integrated dual rocker arm system.

The Actros is the first Mercedes-Benz branded truck to come standard with a genuine Jacobs Vehicle Systems engine brake.
