ESU480 is fully compatible with Delfleet Essential basecoats and single-stage topcoats, features outstanding versatility and can be used with a wide array of substrates ranging from cold rolled steel, aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized steel and galvaneal to enamel surfaces and fiber glass, PPG says.
“PPG customers have asked for a multi-use commercial primer in the Delfleet Essential brand, and we’re pleased to provide them with ESU480,” says J.J. Wirth, PPG brand manager, fleet segments. “Collision centers that want to speed up throughput and boost productivity will find that this non-sanding undercoat works reliably over numerous substrates and delivers a smooth finish and fast topcoat times.”
PPG says ESU480 incorporates advanced technology to provide superior adhesion and resistance to corrosion. It is a gray, thin film epoxy that lays down easily with no need for sanding. The primer offers a fast recoat time and quick drying that requires as little as 30 minutes before topcoating. PPG adds that the primer’s low 2.1 VOC makes it compliant for all parts of the U.S. and Canada. ESU480 is applied in a 4:1 mix ratio and has a four-hour potlife.
