SKF names new global director

SKF says Hans Sjöström has been appointed new global director of the SKF Vehicle Service Market Business Unit.

Sjöström is replacing Christer Cedervall who takes up the role of Director, SKF Industrial Market Demand Chain & Logistics Services.

Sjöström has been with SKF for 18 years, holding positions such as Director SKF Automotive Market Business Development & Marketing and Director Business Consulting and head of Coated bearings.

Sjöström has extensive experience in the automotive sector and his expertise includes R&D, marketing and sales, process engineering and operations management with companies such as Tenneco Automotive, Finnveden Metal Structures and SKF, the company says.

“I am very excited about this challenge,” says Sjöström. “While the business climate in the aftermarket remains ever-changing, I believe our strong SKF brand, our technology know-how as an OE supplier to the major automotive manufacturers, and our excellent logistics platforms provide many opportunities for the future. Going forward my goal is to further strengthen our focus on customer value through close partnerships with our distributor network and to provide the direction needed to meet the demands of the aftermarket.”

This change is effective as of May 1, 2015. In his new role Sjöström will continue to report to Stephane Le-Mounier, president SKF Automotive Market, and will remain located in Gothenburg, Sweden.
