SOLD 2017 announces day one speakers

Derek Kaufman will be the featured speaker at SOLD 2017 (Service Opportunities Learning Days) before Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week 2017, organizers announced Tuesday.

Kaufman is known in the industry for his knowledge in the future offerings by the OEM manufacturers. He will present at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2017, and will discuss new advancements in technology the trucking industry will see in the next five years. New technology will include safety, power train efficiency, reduced vehicle weight, and driver comfort. SOLD organizers say Kaufman’s presentation will outline what aftermarket service providers will need to know and the tools needed to service the new equipment.

Additionally, Paul Jones with Bendix Commercial Vehicle Solutions also will present on Jan. 22. Jones will discuss the importance of providing the proper parts to customers, and also will address advanced ABS systems and how they work. These include the Collision Avoidance System, the Lane Departure System, and Steering Wheel Sensors. SOLD organizers says these are all systems that can be affected by a technician inadvertently while performing maintenance such as spring replacement, king pin replacement, front end alignment. The importance is knowing how to diagnose and reset the sensors if a problem exists.

SOLD will announce speakers for its second day of presentations on Jan. 23, 2017, at a later event.
