WheelTime’s Arrants to present at SOLD ’17

George Arrants, director of Training & Recruitment for the WheelTime Network, has joined the panel discussion on technician recruitment and training at the upcoming 2017 Service Opportunities Learning Days (SOLD), scheduled for Jan. 22-23, 2017, at the Mirage in Las Vegas before Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW).

Arrants will participate on a panel that already includes Trish Serratore, president of NATEF/AYES, Mike Woods, national diesel program manager at UTI, and Mike Betts, CEO at Betts Company. Each presenter will address the industry’s shortage of trained technicians, what the industry and individuals can do to help and discuss what steps are already being taken.

Arrants is an expert in this field.

His work at WheelTime includes leading Wheel Time University, the company’s online assessment, training, and ASE test preparation for Wheel Time member technicians and fleets that may not have their own training programs.

Additionally, Arrants has chaired ATA’s Technology & Maintenance Council Super Tech Competition since it inception in 2005 and the Future Technicians Skills Competition.  This competition provides recognition and award for technicians and their employers from across the country to showcase their skills and abilities. Arrants was awarded the TMC’s “Silver Spark Plug” in 2005, which is the highest award the TMC bestows.

Arrants also works in an advisory capacity to NATEF and ASE, and has worked closely with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration where he led the automotive strategic development team that advised the agency’s “High Growth Job Training Initiative.”
