DHG Dealerships has published a new white paper addressing the importance of internal audit functions for heavy-duty truck dealers.

Written by David Wilkinson, DHG Dealership CPA and senior manager, the new paper addresses the misconceptions that exist regarding internal audit functions, the practicality and value of such functions and guidance for how truck dealers can implement such functions within their business.

Wilkinson opens his paper by stating an internal audit functions test “compliance with the dealership’s policies and procedures and to identify potential areas of risk.”  Such functions also can be key to helping dealerships identify and managing potential risks to operate efficiently and minimize exposure to loss, he adds.

He then goes on to list ten common risks that dealers face when they fail to implement internal audit functions and how those risks must be managed without internal audits. In his conclusion, Wilkinson writes an”effective and practical internal audit approach for your dealership can help you avoid and mitigate significant risks and identify potential problems early.”
