Michigan lawmakers are poised this week to pass HB 4344, which – if passed – would ban the use of aftermarket and remanufactured parts on vehicles less than five years old.

The Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) issued a call to action this week asking its Michigan membership contact their representatives and voice their displeasure.

“If enacted, this bill would limit consumer choices about repair options, and increase prices by mandating that only OEM parts can be used for repairs,” the notice says. “Furthermore, it would have a negative impact on existing aftermarket retail sales and manufacturing jobs.”
