TransEdge Truck Centers becomes certified EV dealer for Mack, Volvo

Mack LR electric refuse truck

TransEdge Truck Centers recently became a certified Mack and Volvo electric vehicle (EV) dealer at its Pittsburgh location.

TransEdge is now able to service and support the Mack LR electric refuse vehicle and is the first Mack dealer in the Northeastern U.S. to achieve EV certification status. TransEdge also is the first Volvo Trucks Certified Electric Vehicle dealer in Pennsylvania.

TransEdge recently hosted an Electric Vehicle Expo at its Pittsburgh leasing location. The expo included product walk-arounds of the LR electric model and the Volvo VNR electric truck.

“Mack is very pleased that our dealer partner, TransEdge Truck Centers, made the investment to become a Certified Electric Vehicle Dealer and support our customers who are adding zero-emissions vehicles to their fleets,” says Jonathan Randall, Mack Trucks senior vice president of sales and commercial operations. “TransEdge’s commitment to supporting Mack customers, whether those with EVs or those with diesel-powered vehicles, is a good example of the industry’s movement toward electrification.”

EV certification requires dealers to meet numerous and stringent safety, infrastructure, charging, tooling and training requirements. Updates to each location also are necessary, but Mack and Volvo executives work hand-in-hand with dealer leadership to ensure a smooth transition.

“We are proud of the success of our Volvo Trucks’ Certified EV Dealer program as it expands to yet another state and continues to build the ecosystem necessary for widespread adoption of battery-electric trucks across the nation,” says Peter Voorhoeve, president, Volvo Trucks North America. “Our dealer partner, TransEdge Truck Centers, continues to provide exceptional service to assist customers with their electromobility transition, and we are excited to see the overwhelmingly positive response to their event to introduce the Volvo VNR Electric to customers in Pennsylvania.”

The Volvo Trucks Certified EV Dealer program ensures professional pre-sales consultancy to secure a commercially and technically viable electromobility solution for its customers. On the aftermarket side, the certification ensures technicians have the proper technical training and understand all safety procedures when servicing electric drivetrains and components. The certification also includes investments in diagnostics tools.

The TransEdge Pittsburgh site, located at 1501 Beaver Ave., offers 17 service bays, one of which is dedicated to electric vehicles. Three technicians — a service manager and two technicians — are EV-certified. Fifty-five percent of technicians at the Pittsburgh location are master technicians. TransEdge in Pittsburgh has $1.2 million in parts inventory.
