DOTY finalist: Sadler Power Train

On Monday Truck Parts & Service announced its finalists for the 2015 Distributor of the Year award. We are now taking a brief look at each nominated distributor.

For information on Sadler Power Train, we turn to President John Sadler.

When was you business founded, and by whom?

Sadler Power Train was originally founded in 1958 by Roy Sadler as Sadler Machine. At that time its core busienss was machine and fabrication, but it has since grown into one of the premier heavy-duty parts distributors in the Midwest. The expansion of Sadler Machine created Sadler Power Train in 1975.

How many locations do you have?

Sadler Power Train now boasts five locations in Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Waterloo and Dubuque, Iowa.

How many employees do you have?

Sadler Power Train’s greatest assets are our people. “Team Sadler” consists of 145 professionals averaging 10 years of experience, which insures only the best product and services possible.

What has been the biggest change in your business over the past calendar year?

Our business is rapidly changing every day. In 2014, the opening of a new 32,000-sq.-ft.-parts and service facility in Davenport, Iowa, headlined these changes. In addition, several key positions were added in all sectors of the business to keep up with increased demands as we prepare for the next generation of Sadler Power Train.

An expansion of our products and services also were implemented including engine parts, turbochargers and Maxwell engine start modules, to name a few.

Why do you believe the heavy-duty aftermarket has nominated you for this award?

Our third nomination for Distributor of the Year is humbling to say the least. We are truly blessed to have the customers, personnel and suppliers we have today to make this possible. We still strongly believe that our customers are the foundation of our business and our suppliers and employees are the vehicle to this success.
