TMC Sets Dates for Meeting, SuperTech Competition
 The Technology & Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Associations will hold its 2010 Fall Meeting and TMCSuperTech2010 National Technician Skills Competition Sept. 20-23 at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, N.C. The meeting theme, Quality Control in Maintenance Operations, will be carried out through technical sessions covering management, training, product selection, regulations and the environment.

Full technical sessions include: “Cleaning of Diesel Exhaust Particulate Filters,” “Economic Forecast for Trucking” and “How the New CSA 2010 Rules Impact Fleet Maintenance Operations.”

TMC’s Service Providers Committee will present the technical session “Quality Control: Advantages and Benefits to Both Fleet and Service Providers.” The Corrosion Control Action Committee will present “A Look at SAE J2721 Corrosion Testing.”

More than 100 Task Forces will meet Sept. 20 to work on Recommended Practices, Information Reports and Position Papers. TMC’s Fleet Operator’s Forum, Fleet Talk and Shop Talk again will provide the opportunity for maintenance and equipment professionals to seek redress to equipment problems and exchange information related to equipment problems.

Additional educational opportunities for meeting attendees will be available at the Technician Training Fair, held in conjunction with TMCSuperTech2010. Six training sessions will be held Sept. 20 and repeated Sept. 23. The training qualifies for National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation continuing education credits.

Paccar Parts Names Bergstrom, IATCO Suppliers of the Year

Paccar Parts has named Bergstrom Inc. and Illinois Auto Truck Co. Inc. its 2009 suppliers of the year for providing quality idle-reduction power systems and HVAC products, and clutches, respectively.

By leveraging technology and predicting how consumers would respond to future products and services, both suppliers were recognized for demonstrating operational efficiency, part availability, providing excellent service to customers and dealers, and executing timely delivery of parts and equipment.

Mahle Clevite Introduces Launchpad Phase II Online Catalog

Mahle Clevite Inc. announced the second phase of its Launchpad online catalog. The company said Phase II introduces an all-new look and includes the addition of search options for piston rings and filters, as well as additional search options for light- and heavy-duty applications.

The Web-based catalog included an electronic ordering function tied directly into customer accounts. Mahle Clevite said the Phase II enhancements allow the user to search and order parts available for light- and heavy-duty applications, and select the parts to be included in the search.

“The features in Phase II of Launchpad were driven directly from the needs and wants of our customers,” said Todd Campau, team coordinator II – data management. “Mahle Clevite is committed to being at the forefront of electronic capabilities.”
