Decisiv’s Riemer presents at IoT Evolution Conference

Decisiv’s Vice President of Product and Channel Marketing Michael Riemer recently presented at the IoT Evolution Conference. Riemer’s expertise and knowledge of IIoT technologies and business issues led to an invitation to participate in the Enhanced Supply Chain Management session.

“Industrial IoT is supporting the digitalization of traditionally industrial markets,” Riemer told attendees. “The tsunami of connected asset data has focused considerable attention on improving commercial and industrial asset performance and availability, but having lots of connected asset data doesn’t solve current service process challenges.

“You need to know which pieces of data matter, capture the data in the context of your service process, and share that and other critical information with others to ensure a successful and timely service or repair event,” Riemer continued. “By adding a layer of communication and collaboration to Industrial IoT and legacy information, you can turn data into action and drive sustainable, valuable business outcomes.”

During his presentation, Riemer went on to relate how Decisiv’s experience incorporating IIoT data into its platform—which supports commercial vehicles, heavy equipment and other industrial and manufacturing assets—has resulted in immediate value.

Decisiv initially focused on medium- and heavy-duty truck manufacturers in North America, and is already the partner of choice for major vehicle manufacturers, including Volvo, Mack, Hino, Peterbilt, and Kenworth, as well as their dealers and call centers, service networks and managed maintenance providers, and a growing number of fleet customers.

Riemer’s presentation also focused on understanding the importance of capturing quality, actionable data through real-time process governance and communication. He added that many IIoT initiatives never realize their projected ROI. While the factors are numerous, Riemer said key themes have emerged:

  • A misplaced focus on knowing that something is broken (or about to break) versus an end-to-end closed loop process that ensures a fast, effective service process; and
  • A lack of leadership to overcome the internal and external customer challenges that prevent the creation of new digital relationships.

“Service Relationship Management is gaining significant momentum because it delivers valuable, sustainable business outcomes,” Riemer said. “Because our platform focuses on capturing information from a variety of sources, including connected assets, it helps create and strengthen customer-supplier relationships, and drives improvements in asset uptime and productivity.”

Decisiv said the IoT Evolution Conference and Expo is an educational and networking forum for enterprises looking to understand how to develop and implement IoT solutions that drive measurable results and business transformation. The conference includes workshops, educational tracks and an exhibit hall. IoT Evolution Expo is supported by Diamond sponsor Cradlepoint, Platinum sponsors ClearBlade and CENTRI, and Corporate sponsors Gemalto and Tellient.
