The Truck Writers of North America in a ceremony last Thursday recognized ArvinMeritor’s D. Mike Pennington with a lifetime achievement award for his long career in the trucking industry.
Pennington, ArvinMeritor senior director of global marketing communications and industry relations for commercial vehicle systems, has a career spanning nearly four decades that includes both editorial and marketing positions.
Pennington began his truck industry communication career with Memphis-based Southern Motor Cargo, where he quickly rose to the magazine’s top editorial position. After 15 years with the publication, he joined ArvinMeritor in 1985 (while it was Rockwell Automotive) as manager of product publicity and business relations. He rose to the position of director of marketing communications-Americas.
In his current role, Pennington is responsible for worldwide strategic marketing communications initiatives, including media relations, publicity, speechwriting, advertising, trade shows and exhibits, sales promotion and collateral materials.
Pennington has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Memphis.
