U.S. diesel price rises slightly

Last week, the national average price of a gallon of diesel increased less than a penny. For the week ended April 6, the price was marked at $2.228.

Three weeks ago, the price hovered just above $2 a gallon. The national average hit a record high of $4.764 last July.

For the latest week, average prices increased modestly in most regions tracked by the U.S. Department of Energy. The East Coast and Lower Atlantic regions recorded small declines. New England remained the most expensive region at $2.429. The Midwest area has the cheapest price at $2.178.
