U.S. diesel price increases 1.5 cents

The national average price of a gallon of diesel increased again last week by 1.5 cents to $2.231. As recently as March, the price was about $2 a gallon. The national average hit a record high of $4.764 last July.

For the latest week, average prices climbed in all regions tracked by the U.S. Department of Energy. New England remained the most expensive region at $2.401 a gallon. The Midwest area had the cheapest price at $2.17.
