U.S. diesel prices continue to fall

Average U.S. diesel prices continued to drop this week, declining 4.6 cents to $2.496 a gallon, according to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

The average price of a gallon of diesel is $2.22 less than a year ago when prices jumped to close to $5 a gallon.

Price decreases were reported in all regions tracked by the DOE. The least expensive region is the Gulf Coast at $2.443, and the most costly is California at $2.703.
