Caterpillar announced availability of Precious Metals In-frame Overhaul Kits for on-highway engines that include four “cost-effective, simple-to-order, pre-packaged engine overhaul options that are backed with Cat warranties, no matter who does the work.”
The in-frame overhaul kits are initially available for 3406E, C-15, and C-16 engine models, and the company said development work of in-frame overhaul kits for additional sales models is under way.
Precious Metals In-frame Overhaul Kits are, according to Caterpillar, engineered to deliver a reliable and high-quality rebuild that meets Caterpillar’s recommended overhaul practices. They include all parts necessary for a variety of repair options, from a basic repair to a complete in-frame overhaul.
In addition to the standard one-year warranty, Extended Service Coverage for these kits is also available for up to four years, with no mileage or hour limitations.
According to George Taylor, general manager of Caterpillar Global On-Highway, “This offering is significant in that it’s really going to help our customers extend the life of their Cat engine in the way that meets their needs and application. Previously, technicians or parts personnel would have to list and order each individual part for an overhaul. For convenience, we’ve packaged it, and we’ve improved the pricing. It’s a great value for our customers. It also demonstrates Caterpillar’s commitment to support on-highway engine customers into the future.”
