DerekTPS 2.0: More News, More Often and Better Looking

This month we are excited about the launch of Truck Parts & Services’ new Web site. You can find it at the same place – www.truckpartsandservice.com – along with many new features and expanded content.

For starters, our industry news will be updated more frequently and it will include a broader scope of headlines.

We will be running more news items that are affecting your customers since knowing the issues that are affecting them will better help you work toward common solutions. Additionally, the site will provide visitors with a fast, easy way to find industry news through segment-driven categories.

The online version of our annual Aftermarket Buyers’ Guide Directory, a comprehensive sourcebook of manufacturers, will get a facelift along with the new site. Improvements here include an easier, more streamlined way to find companies by both product categories and alphabetized by company name.

Additionally, enhanced multimedia capabilities will be incorporated such as truck service/how-to videos, tours of manufacturing facilities and business-building presentations.

Feedback such as online comments on articles and news items will be easier, and we’ll be branching out into some of the more popular social networking resources.

The site will continue to evolve and expand. Most notably, an aftermarket job resource section will be added later this year. Attracting and retaining talent to distributorships and service shops is crucial to the long-term health of the aftermarket, and it is something that is frequently and consistently noted by readers as an area we all need to work on improving.

More than a job board, it will be an educational resource for both employers and job seekers.

This section will allow businesses to post available employment opportunities and job seekers the ability to shop around their talents. In addition to helping bring employers and potential employees together, the section will include resources to help both parties.

For instance, employers will benefit from information that helps structure competitive job offers, relocation packages and job descriptions, while job seekers will be able to learn about the career opportunities available in the trucking industry, particularly the aftermarket.

The aftermarket continues to struggle with attracting new talent to all areas of operation – from technicians to the front office – and our new Web site will have dedicated resources to help soften this challenge. It will educate as to the many rewarding career opportunities in the heavy-duty parts and service industry, and will help businesses attract the best possible employee candidates by helping them tailor competitive recruitment packages.

It’s more than a job board; it’s an educational tool for both sides of the employment equation.

And, of course, truckpartsandservice.com will continue to include the content that makes it the online aftermarket authority, including full-content digital versions of Truck Parts & Service magazine and archived Webinar presentations from our lineup of complimentary, business-building seminars.

We’re excited about this new online industry resource and hope you will be too. n
