DmDM Advantage Fan Drives and PolarForce Two-Speed Conversion Kits

Available in on/off and two-speed technologies, DM Advantage Fan Drives from Horton have premium components and offer reliable, highly efficient and precise cooling. They are lighter, have high torque and a fail-safe design. DM Advantage fan drives are available as reman fan drives, which are a cost-effective reliable replacement option, according to the company.

DM Advantage Two-Speed Fan Drives alternate between eddy current and spring-actuated cooling. Using eddy current, they reduce operating noise, increase available horsepower for auxiliary systems and minimize radiator abrasion from dust/debris. They spring-actuate when more cooling is needed.

Horton said its PolarForce Two-Speed Conversion Kit will help you help your customers reduce noise, save fuel and increase engine performance. For less than the cost of a new fan drive, this conversion kit retrofits a DM Advantage or DriveMaster On/Off Fan Drive to two-speed technology.

Shell Rotella T3 NG Is Dedicated NG Engine Oil

Shell Lubricants introduced its Rotella T3 NG Energized Protection oil which it said uses a customized combination of high-performance additives to adapt and protect under the range of pressures and temperatures found in compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueled engines.

The oil is suitable for applications such as buses and trucks fitted with Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Mahindra and Hyundai engines designed to run on 100 percent CNG or LNG, particularly those preferring relatively low-ash formulations.

“Shell Lubricants continues to take a leadership role to provide the necessary lubricants required today and in the future,” said Mark Reed, global brand manager for Shell Rotella. “The addition of Shell Rotella T3 NG oil to the portfolio of Shell Rotella Energized Protection heavy-duty engine oils provides additional strength to our product lineup, which includes conventional, synthetic-blend and full-synthetic diesel engine oils.”

Shell said the Rotella T3 NG engine oil is formulated to provide an optimized balance of detergents and dispersants that promotes good piston and engine cleanliness and long, efficient engine operation; ignition system protection through reduced levels of ash-containing additives, which control deposit formation in the combustion chamber; and demonstrated wear protection of liners, rings, bearings and valvetrain components.

Shell Rotella T3 NG currently is available in drums, totes and bulk.

TRP Launches Clutches, Clutch Components

TRP Aftermarket Parts now offers a line of clutches and clutch system components for use in all makes of medium- and heavy-duty trucks that are designed with minimal resistance to make shifting easy and less fatiguing, according to the company.

The Easy Effort is a heavy-duty, coil-spring clutch with nine springs – six coil springs inside the casting with three assist springs – for higher-torque engines, while the Soft Pedal diaphragm-style clutch features a lower bearing load and reduces pedal effort when compared to angle spring-designed products.

Both clutches are available in 14- and 15.5-inch versions; the 15.5-inch version of the Easy Effort clutch features a strap design for smooth energy transfer, and it also comes with a 5⁄8-inch socket adjuster that allows technicians to quickly and simply adjust the clutch, the company said.

The more economical option for older-model vehicles is the Angle Spring Clutch, and for medium-duty trucks, the company offers standard- and stamped-steel one- and two-plate clutches for single-disc and two-disc applications. Standard clutches are manufactured with ceramic-facing friction material.

All TRP clutches made with Kevlar material also are available for vocational trucks, such as log haulers, refuse haulers, dump trucks and cement trucks.

SkfSKF Introduces High Capacity Dual Turbo-2000 Air Dryer

SKF introduced its new High Capacity Dual Turbo-2000 air dryer, an advanced version of the standard SKF Brakemaster Dual Turbo-2000 air dryer designed with a greater maximum compressor size.

SKF said the new High Capacity Dual Turbo-2000 is ideal for large compressor output applications and is available in 12V 75W (6.6 amps) and 24V 75W (3.2 amps) options. It can withstand compressor air-flow output of up to 80 scfm and up to 40 percent compressor duty cycle – the standard Dual Turbo-2000 withstands up to 40 scfm and 100 percent compressor duty cycle.

Additionally, the High Capacity Dual Turbo-2000 includes the same internal filtration package with 99.9 percent efficiency as the standard Dual Turbo-2000 air dryer. It also meets the 2010 EPA requirements for high-output compressors on transit buses.

“The introduction of the new High Capacity Dual Turbo-2000 air dryer broadens our product offering, allowing end users to choose an air dryer that is designed to meet the specific and difficult air quality demands of their applications,” said Leslie Kern, product development manager, heavy duty, SKF. “While the standard Dual Turbo-2000 is more suitable for extreme compressor duty cycles, the new High Capacity Dual Turbo-2000 is designed with a greater compressor size and meets the requirements of high-output compressors required on 2010 transit bus engines.”

New OTC Adapter for Heavy-duty Differentials Available

OTC, an SPX Brand, released its new differential mounting adapter (P/N 553516) designed to assist in the removal and installation of differentials in heavy-duty trucks.

Compatible with OTC’s 5019A low lift transmission jack, 5078 high lift transmission jack and 1522A stinger transmission jack, this adapter is said to mount easily using existing bolt patterns and fits most common differentials currently in use on Class 7 and 8 trucks including Eaton, Fuller, Rockwell, Meritor, Spicer, International and Mack.

“One of the great challenges in developing the 553516 was finding the optimal balance between size and stability, while also ensuring technicians could still use it effectively, given the small amount of clearance they deal with when working beneath a vehicle,” said Eric Adamson, product manager of Equipment and Heavy-Duty Tools. “Our design provides a full half-ton of rated lifting capacity, while also enabling the technician to mount it to a wide range of transmission jacks. A differential is a heavy and awkward piece of equipment to remove or install, and has many moving components that need to be secured properly to ensure safe handling of the unit. The OTC 553516 provides an exceptional platform for this application and gives the shop owner added confidence that their technicians can do this service safely and efficiently.”

When mated with the OTC 5019A 2,000-pound capacity transmission jack, which has a low lifting height of 8.25 inches, the 553516 is said to provide technicians with a highly stable platform that can reach into some of the most confined spaces beneath a vehicle. The 553516 features a convenient and secure mounting point for the yoke and can be adjusted to fit the widest possible range of differentials that a shop is likely to encounter.
