Dana Adds to Product Line in South America

The Dana Holding Corporation has taken action to become a full-service provider of drivelines in South America. The company has completed a transaction with SIFCO S.A., and the agreement allows Dana to add truck and bus steering axles to its product offerings in South America.

“This agreement builds on Dana’s deep manufacturing and engineering expertise in this product segment and immediately positions Dana as the leading provider of full system driveline solutions to our customers, allowing us to develop total vehicle optimized solutions in South America,” says Mark Wallace, president of the Dana Heavy Vehicle Products Group. “We’re pleased to support a wide range of multi-national and regional commercial vehicle manufacturers in this region.”

Dana says the decision to expand into South America is part of its global marketing strategy, as it also recently expanded in China. According to the company, it invested more than $150 million to acquire the driveline distribution rights.

“Dana’s long track record of experience in this product segment, combined with the strength of SIFCO, will enable us to continue creating benefits for our customers,” says Harro Burmann, Dana South American operations president.
