Midwest Wheel Celebrates Anniversary

Midwest Wheel Companies celebrated a major milestone with its 100th anniversary this week. The company was founded by Fred Prior and George Koons in Des Moines, Iowa in 1911, and was called Iowa Vulcanizing Company. The company was the first rubber vulcanizer west of the Mississippi River. The company has expanded over the past century, and currently has 180 employees in seven locations in Iowa and Missouri.

“We want to thank all of our employees, customers and suppliers for their support over the past 100 years. They are the people who have made us ‘100 Years Strong’,” says Mike Callison, company president and fourth-generation owner of company.

As part of its year-long celebration, Midwest Wheel made a $20,000 donation to the Iowa Motor Truck Association’s Iowa Motor Carrier’s Foundation and a $10,000 donation to the Des Moines Area Community College.
