A sluggish economy has proven to be more than one industry behemoth can bear.
Cummins Inc. announced this week that it plans to cut up to1,500 jobs by yearâs end on the heels of sluggish sales figures, reported Jobspectrum.
Cummins CEO Tom Linebarger tells Yahoo! Finance âuncertainty regarding the direction of the global economyâ forced the company to slash its expenses.
Cummins also is likely to shutter some manufacturing plants as well as slashing the workforce, adds NBC news.
The company employs approximately 44,000 people worldwide. The job cuts are expected in plants located in New Mexico, Minnesota and North Carolina by the end of the year, says Jobspectrum.
