Dana driveline, sealing, and thermal-management solutions were featured on 2013 Heavy Duty Commercial Truck of Year and six of Ward’s 10 Best Engines for 2013. And that wasn’t the only good news the company received this month.

In earnings released Thursday, Dana Holdings posted a record $300 million in net income, compared with $219 million in the previous year.

Sales for the year were down, totaling $7.2 billion compared with $7.5 billion for 2011, but profits soared amid cost savings actions.

Sales for the fourth-quarter fell to $1.6 billion compared with $1.9 billion in 2011 on lower end-market demand of $155 million, principally impacting Dana’s Commercial Vehicle and Off-Highway business segments. However, Dana’s net income of $88 million in the fourth quarter of 2012 compares favorably with $71 million posted in 2011.
