Bendix hosts U.S. rep

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC hosted U.S. Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind., at its Huntington, Ind., production facility recently for a tour and meet-and-greet with its leaders to discuss issues affecting the commercial vehicle industry.

The visit was part of the company’s ongoing efforts to educate lawmakers on the impact its operations have on the commercial vehicle industry and the communities where they are located.

Operating in Huntington for more than 30 years, Bendix employs more than 400 Indiana residents and is one of Huntington County’s largest employers. The Huntington site began its first remanufacturing operation in 1980 and now comprises four facilities, including manufacturing and assembly sites, as well as Bendix’s primary North American distribution center.

“Bendix has been a positive force in Huntington for more than three decades, and I was pleased to see during my visit that the company remains as committed as ever to growing and strengthening its business and presence in the community,” Stutzman said. “Huntington’s employees and facilities are a great example of Indiana’s talent, innovation, and cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities.”

Bendix has more than 35 years’ experience in remanufacturing commercial vehicle compressors, air dryers, and valves. The Huntington facility also includes the Bendix Brake Shoe Remanufacturing Center.

By salvaging key components of returned products and reassembling them with other salvaged and new components, Bendix provides remanufactured products that meet original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications and ensure availability even in peak demand years. Bendix engineers also use components originally manufactured by other brands to bring remanufactured parts as close as possible to their OEM specifications.

Remanufacturing also reduces Bendix’s environmental impact by lessening the energy use and carbon dioxide output associated with the fabrication of new parts.
