Researching the size and scope of the agriculture equipment aftermarket in Brazil is the goal of a new study being conducted by MacKay & Company.

Citing the fact that more than 400,000 tractors and 47,000 combines were sold in Brazil since 2000, MacKay & Company has launched a study, The Comprehensive Evaluation of the Agricultural Equipment Aftermarket Parts Opportunity in Brazil: 2013 And Beyond.

The study is designed to develop the necessary quantitative data to give agricultural equipment and component manufacturers the focus and direction they require to pinpoint current market position, establish market targets and measure progress toward these goals.

DataMac Ag Brazil will be based on a broad base of on-site and telephone interviews with farmers and companies operating and maintaining agricultural equipment in Brazil. At the same time, dealers, independent parts distributors, independent repair garages and other businesses providing replacement parts and components to the maintainers of agricultural equipment will be interviewed.

The focus of the research on equipment operators and maintainers will be on the primary agricultural equipment makes used, equipment sizes, types of harvested crops, number of harvests per year, harvested hectares, vehicle age and other specifics of the operation of each company. Also being studied are how and where equipment maintenance and service work is performed, typical parts replacement cycles, types of parts used (used, new, rebuilt, remanufactured) and where parts are purchased.

The study will cover tractors, combines, sugar cane harvesters and corn and soybean planters.

Dealers, independent parts distributors, independent repair garages and other providers of parts and service to the Brazilian ag market will be studied to determine type of business, approximate parts sales volume, area of operation, number of service bays, number of technicians, types of replacement parts sold, as well as other related information.

At the conclusion of the research, study sponsors will receive a DataMac Ag Brazil Report a written report, access to an online database with all the pertinent aftermarket data by component and a presentation of the final results.
