daycoDayco has opened a new 400,000-square-foot distribution center in Memphis, Tenn., the company announced Tuesday.

The facility features state-of-the-art distribution and logistics technology, including a new Tier 1 warehouse management system, which Dayco says will improve shipping times while increasing fill rates.

“As a major transportation hub centrally located in the United States, Memphis is the best location for our distribution center,” says John Bohenick, Chief Executive Officer for Dayco. “The new location gives Dayco the ability to provide a seamless service experience for our North American customers, from manufacturing to delivery.”

The Memphis facility, which will employ nearly 200, will be used to distribute all of Dayco’s products in North America, consisting of belts, tensioners, pulleys, harmonic balancers, hose, hydraulics components and equipment, and all related tools.

In June, Dayco announced plans to expand its customer service capabilities, implement new supply chain systems and consolidate its U.S. distribution locations into one, larger distribution center in the Memphis, Tenn., area.

Dayco anticipates initial product shipments by the third quarter of 2015, with the goal of shipping all products from the Memphis location by the end of the calendar year.
