The MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers' Council of Remanufacturing Excellence (CoRE) ReThink Tank has announced an initiative to document the history of vehicle component remanufacturing and is requesting supplier organizations submit their histories.
CoRE is developing a historical timeline that will chronicle the evolution of remanufacturing within the automotive and commercial vehicle industry. This collaborative project aims to highlight key milestones, groundbreaking innovations, and significant contributions from companies that have shaped the remanufacturing landscape.
The organization states a preliminary timeline is already underway, showcasing some pivotal events and general timeframes. However, the true depth of this project relies on input from organizations across the aftermarket. CoRE is seeking:
- Important dates related to remanufacturing in a company's history
- Descriptions of innovative practices or steps organizations have pioneered in remanufacturing
- Photos to accompany the accomplishments, if available
These contributions will not only enhance the timeline but will also serve as a powerful tool to promote the value and impact of remanufactured products across industries.

"The remanufacturing historical timeline is more than just a record of our past — it's a celebration of innovation and resilience within our industry," says Nikki Rankin, CoRE council lead. MEMA Aftermarket Suppliers. "By contributing to this effort, organizations have a unique opportunity to showcase their milestones and underscore the value of remanufacturing. Together, we can create a comprehensive resource that honors our history."
MEMA says submissions for the remanufacturing historical timeline can be sent to Nikki Rankin.
