PPG says F4921 is a 2.1 VOC gray primer that is compatible with Delfleet Evolution basecoats and single-stage topcoats and offers exceptional versatility. The new primer can be applied to a broad range of substrates including cold rolled steel, aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized steel, galvaneal, fiber glass and cured surfaces, the company says.

F4921 also is said to be fast drying and can be topcoated as a primer sealer in as little as 30 minutes, making it a high-value choice for production-conscious collision centers. The primer also displays superior adhesion and corrosion resistance, which makes it an attractive choice for OEM manufacturers as well as repair shops. It can be applied over bare metal as a protective layer or as a sealer over existing finishes, the company says.
Wirth adds that F4921’s low 2.1 VOC makes it compliant for all parts of the country and Canada. The primer is applied in a 3:1:1 mix ratio and lays down smoothly because of its thin film quality.
