Meritor releases ‘Fast Set’ king pin kit

There’s a new king (pin) in town.

Meritor has introduced the FastSet King Pin Kit to support market demand for a quicker solution to aftermarket king pin replacement. The announcement was made Tuesday at Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW) 2016 in Las Vegas.

“This new king pin offering meets an industry need for an economical, but high-quality, no-ream kit that will significantly reduce repair time,” says Pete Stow, senior manager, Steering and Suspension, Aftermarket for Meritor. “Customers will appreciate reduced maintenance costs while benefitting from Meritor-quality parts.”

The kit eliminates the need for reamers, special tools and presses, and Stow says king pin bushings do not need to be reamed after they are installed into the steering knuckle, which saves labor, time and equipment costs. And instead of pressing in the bushings during installation, customers can use the kit to easily install spiral bushings by hand. Additionally, the king pin’s special groove pattern design allows grease to permeate high-wear areas, Meritor says.

Meritor says the FastSet King Pin Kit is covered by Meritor’s standard aftermarket warranty.

“With the elimination of so much labor and special tool requirements, installation can take place at the end user level, and costly repair shop visits can be avoided,” Stow says. “As its name suggests, the FastSet is truly easy to install, maintain and own.”
