Meritor announced last week at the Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tenn., that its AxlePak7 on-highway trailer wheel-ends will be available later this spring and will include an extended 7-year warranty coverage.
Meritor says AxlePak7 features premium wheel-end components and offers a choice of ductile iron or optional aluminum hubs, along with premium long-life wheel seals, spindle nuts and synthetic, semifluid grease.
“Every minute, every penny, every mile and every gallon counts,” says Brett Penzkofer, trailer division vice president and general manager for Meritor. “Running on under-inflated tires or downtime can be a drain on all of these. Fleets are looking for ways to reduce maintenance costs and extend service life, and trailer wheel-ends are critical to their need for longer-life components.
“We listened to our customers and are offering AxlePak7 to help them get even more value from their Meritor wheel-ends.”
Warranty coverage includes the following components:
- Hubs, bearings, seals, hubcaps and spindle nuts
- Thru-tees and stators for MTIS by PSI when the MTIS option is selected in conjunction with AxlePak7.
New linehaul steer axle
Meritor also announced its MFS+, a light-weight front-steer axle that is 85 lbs. lighter thanks to a new gooseneck beam design and offset knuckle with integrated torque plate and tie-rod arms.
“MFS+ represents the next step in the evolution of our front-steer axle offering,” says Chris Villavarayan, president, Americas for Meritor, adding that the new design simplifies integration into the chassis and offers high-angle turning capacity of up to 55 degrees as well as universal compatibility with braking systems.
The new MFS+ is available in standard and wide track and has a gross axle weight rating between 12,000 and 31,200 lbs.
