Phillips & Temro introduces its Idle Free Series 4000 eAPU, designed for vehicle owners with over-the-road sleepers with limited frame rail space and over-the-road sleepers pulling a refrigerated trailer.
Phillips & Temro says the APU mounts behind the cab rather than on the rails, which also helps minimize exposure from the elements. It is designed to capture and store energy from the truck’s alternator in independent AGM batteries, then convert the energy into power for cooling and electrification.
The company’s proprietary Reefer Link technology allows the APU to link the truck and a reefer unit to convert the reefer unit’s energy and provide unlimited run time of the A/C and heater, as well as electrical power for a TV, microwave and computer, the company says.
