Chevron blog highlights advantages of extended protection lubricants

Updated Jul 21, 2017

Chevron has published a new entry to its Lube Matters blog showcasing the teardown of a heavy-duty engine that operated for more than 500,000 miles using new API CK-4 Delo 400 XLE 10W-30 with ISOSYN Advanced Technology, as well as Delo ELC extended life coolant.

The blog was written by Chevron’s Shawn Whitacre, senior staff engineer and chairman of the ASTM Heavy-Duty Engine Oil Classification Panel, and features a video of Chevron’s Len Badal, global Delo brand manager, evaluating the components of Hoge Motor Company’s Mack MP 8 engine, which was recently tore down after 550,000 miles of usage.

In the video (shown below), Badal showcases the areas where Chevron’s oils and coolants provided beneficial to maintaining the functionality and performance of the system. Says Whitacre: “The condition of the engine and cooling system components provide a vivid demonstration of Delo’s piston deposit control, oxidation stability and anti-wear protection properties.”
