The conversion adds a right-hand seat position to the OEM cab so that a driver may comfortably operate vocational vehicles from either the right or the left side.
"Customers have relied on our sit-down dual drive modifications to make their vocational vehicles more versatile and efficient for decades," says Harrison Letchworth, Fontaine Modification vocational sales manager. "When Freightliner refreshed its M2 series cab interior and electrical architecture, we reengineered and upgraded our existing dual-drive steering modification to make the right-hand driving position even more ergonomic to improve driver comfort and efficiency."
Fontaine created new dash panels, a right-hand digital dash cluster and wiring harnesses for the M2. The conversion is performed at Fontaine's flagship modification center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The work includes relocating multiple electrical modules behind the dash and revising the steering column.
The company says it plans to add a premium sit-down dual drive conversion for the 2025 Freightliner M2 112 and M2 114SD trucks later this year.
