Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems has a new generation of diagnostic software out Wednesday.

ACome AE includes Bendix Global Scalable Brake Control (GSBC) and Global Scalable Air Treatment (GSAT) technologies. It's supported by Cojali and modeled on Jaltest diagnostic software.

"With Bendix GSBC and GSAT now available on North American vehicles, it's crucial to equip maintenance teams with the proper tools to keep trucks operating safely," says TJ Thomas, Bendix's director of marketing and customer solutions, controls. "As newer electronic control units — ECUs — have been incorporated into Bendix systems over the years, ACom has evolved to support them and this is the next step in that development."

ACom was initially released in 2004 and was succeeded by ACom PRO in 2019. ACom PRO was discontinued for purchase Sept. 1 and support will end Aug. 31, 2025, or when the user's license expires. Users can check their license expiration date in the platform's registration menu under application settings.

"We always strive to help put North America's truck drivers in the safest vehicles possible, and to do that, we aim to give professional technicians the best tools possible," Thomas says.

ACom AE is compatible with RP-1210-C adapters and, as a subscription service, will be updated three times a year with no additional charge. It will also support Bendix antilock braking systems (ABS), automatic traction control (ATC), stability control, the Bendix Fusion advanced driver assistance systems, BlindSpotter side object detection system, iSense air disc brake pad wear sensing and SmarTire tire pressure monitoring systems.

GSBC is Bendix's electronic braking system (EBS) technology. Sometimes called brake-by-wire or electropneumatic braking, it uses electronic signals to control brake applications. This is different from antilock braking systems, where the control signal is pneumatic. GSAT is a modular control system for compressed air-operated braking systems that's built to address evolving functionalities and regional environmental regulations while providing manufacturers with a high level of flexibility during installation.

ACom AE is available in English, French and Spanish. Users can switch in between the languages as needed.

"We're excited to collaborate with Bendix to offer these robust and advanced diagnostic solutions tot he fleets and technicians of North America's commercial vehicle industry," says Bruno Gattamorta, chief commercial officer at Cojali USA. "Today's trucks and their safety systems are more complex and interconnected than ever, and keeping them running properly is an important aspect of both highway safety and effective supply chain operation."

Bendix ACom AE detects and gathers active and inactive diagnostic trouble shooting codes (DTCs) from Bendix and R.H. Sheppard ECUs as well as ECUs for the engine and transmission. This eliminates the need for a technician to guess from a prepopulated list of components.

Cojali will integrate functionality with Jaltest into the Bendix framework, the company says, enhancing the overall diagnostic capabilities for Bendix customers.

"Together, we will provide seamless integration and superior service, combining Bendix's industry leadership with Cojali's cutting-edge technology to deliver advanced diagnostics and fleet management solutions to the Bendix network," Gattamorta says.

Bendix's parent company, Knorr-Bremse, is the majority shareholder of Cojali.
