Carrier Transicold’s Vector 8200 all-electric, engineless transport refrigeration unit (TRU) with single- and multi-temperature capabilities for stationary trailer cold storage, is now available through Carrier Transicold’s North American dealer network.
According to Carrier Transicold, shippers and carriers of fresh and frozen food often require fuel-efficient, supplemental on-site cold storage capacity during seasonal peaks, facility upgrades or unexpected demand spikes. The engineless Vector 8200 helps fill this need across the cold chain by using electricity from the grid or other external power sources, eliminating fuel consumption, noise, operating costs and direct emissions associated with diesel-powered systems.
Its TRU-Demand E-Drive energy management system monitors power draw and adjusts to changes in a facility’s electrical supply, maintaining voltage during brownouts and preventing grid strain when multiple units restart after power outages.

“Customers need reliable temperature control whether they’re holding product at 35°F or -20°F, and they need it without TRU engine noise or direct emissions at their facility,” says Greg Turner, associate director, Trailer Product Management, Carrier Transicold. “The Vector 8200 gives them an intelligent all-electric solution for single- or multi-temperature on-site cold storage that doesn’t use diesel fuel and actively manages power demand.”
The Vector 8200 is Carrier Transicold’s first engineless TRU with multi-temperature capability. It has four remote evaporator options to cool one-, two- or three-compartment trailers.

The company says other benefits of the Vector 8200 include:
- Cooling capacity across a full temperature range: The Vector 8200 delivers up to 58,000 BTU/hr at 35°F, 33,500 BTU/hr at 0°F and 22,000 BTU/hr at -20°F. It covers standard refrigerated, frozen and deep-frozen storage applications while also providing electric heating and defrost — all while plugged into shore power.
- Advanced APX controls: IntelliSet technology with ProductShield delivers precise temperature control, while a DataLink data recorder logs temperature history for quality assurance and compliance recordkeeping.
- Lynx Fleet telematics integration: Provides comprehensive fleet intelligence, monitoring and two-way control capabilities.
- Engineered for reliability: The Vector 8200 features a robust, fully hermetic electric scroll compressor, high-efficiency microchannel condenser, maintenance-free AC fan motors, electronic expansion valve, high-power 40-amp battery charger and a TRU-mounted solar charging system. Options include a liftgate battery charger and custom paint.
The company says the Vector 8200’s availability marks 20 years since Carrier Transicold introduced the Vector platform with E-Drive, its pioneering all-electric refrigeration technology used by thousands of fleets across North America.
“When fleets need more cold storage, they usually need it fast and they don’t want to run a diesel engine to get it,” says Turner. “The Vector 8200 lets them turn a trailer into flexible, multi-temperature storage that plugs in and holds precise temperatures, without new infrastructure or on-site engine emissions.”
