Michelin introduces a new regional drive tire, the X Multi Energy D2 tire, on Tuesday. The company says it is specifically designed for regional haul operations that contend with frequent start-and-stop driving and demanding road conditions.

The new tire has an updated tread pattern and new tread compound designed to improve resistance to tread damage caused by high torque vehicles and stop-and-go driving. It's built on the Michelin Duracore casing, which incorporates Infinicoil and Powercoil technologies with a reinforced bead design. Michelin says it's designed for up to a million miles and four retreads.
Michelin says the X Multi Energy D2 represents a 9% improvement in tire rolling resistance and is 18% better than leading competitors. Late life traction is also better than the previous model, the company says. It's available in 295/75R22.5 LRG and 11R22.5 LRG and LRH sizes. The new tire replaces the X Multi Energy D tire in those sizes.
