Jacobs Vehicle Systems has launched a new engine brake for the new Yuchai YC6K12, 12.2L engine. The braking system consists of two dedicated cam-operated compression release overhead housing assemblies and a custom designed exhaust brake. According to Jacobs, this provides a synergistic effect for maximum cylinder pressure utilization to achieve high retarding power density.
Additionally, Jacobs says it includes specialized valve train crossheads with integrated braking valve motion actuation pins and dedicated brake rocker arms to transfer motion from the dedicated brake cams to the brake housing assemblies.
This new braking system was designed by Jacobs in conjunction with Yuchai’s engineering staff. Jacobs says the brake has the highest performance per liter of any engine brake in China. The engine brake was developed for use in C&C Trucks, a heavy-duty brand in China.
