Eaton enhances access to Reman transmissions

Updated Jul 12, 2011

Eaton Flex RemanEaton Corporation announced it has increased the availability and coverage of its Reman transmissions through the addition of a new Flex Reman line, which Eaton says ensures fleets receive genuine Eaton quality and content.

In addition, Eaton says it has raised the standard warranty coverage of its entire heavy-duty Reman transmission portfolio to two years for linehaul and 18 months for vocational applications within the United States and Canada.

“Eaton’s new Flex Reman transmission is the perfect evolution of our remanufactured portfolio,” says Bill Fouch, aftermarket marketing manager for Eaton’s Truck business in North America. “Through certain design changes, we are able to present dealers a flexible inventory of 10 models that meet 80 percent of the market need.”

Both Eaton’s standard and Flex Reman models are made using 100 percent genuine Eaton technology and are performance tested to Eaton standards, the company says. However, the Flex Reman transmissions differ from Eaton’s standard Reman transmissions in three key ways:

  • No clutch housing (shipped with new gasket);
  • Standard shift bar housing (forward shift bar housing available); and
  • Cover a range of torque.

“Because dealers will have the ability to stock several key Flex Reman models that cover a range of torque and are not specific in clutch housing, they automatically increase the number of Eaton Fuller models they can replace same day,” says Fouch. “It’s a win-win for the dealer and fleet: Dealers don’t waste time searching and waiting for units, and fleets benefit from immediate service that gets them back to making money — instead of spending it — sooner.”

Should a dealer not have a standard Reman or Flex Reman unit in stock, Eaton says same- and next-day delivery is made possible through the Roadranger Logistic Network, which includes 14 strategically located warehouses throughout the United States.

Eaton says fleets also now benefit from increased standard warranties on Reman and Flex Reman units.

“We believe we have the best remanufactured heavy-duty transmission in the business, and now we back it with the industry’s best warranty coverage,” says Fouch. “Genuine Eaton components combined with Eaton’s manufacturing technology result in Reman transmissions second only to a new Eaton transmission.”

In addition to the increase in standard warranty in the United States and Canada, Eaton says it is now offering extended protection plans for additional coverage beyond the increased standard warranties of two years for linehaul applications and 18 months for vocational applications. Customers purchasing a standard Reman transmission as part of a glider kit installation will receive an additional year of warranty coverage at no additional cost on the transmission for linehaul applications if they also purchase an Eaton Advantage Series clutch and use Roadranger-approved lubricant.
