Vigillo releases inspection management system

Updated Aug 17, 2011

VigilloVigillo LLC has released its new Inspection Management System (IMS).

According to the company, the web-based application represents a new category of product designed to automatically track and manage all aspects of roadside inspections. Schneider National is the first carrier to utilize this innovative one-of-a-kind product.

“The Vigillo Inspection Management System is an expansion of already important services that Vigillo provides to Schneider National, Inc,” says Don Osterberg, senior vice president of safety, security and driver training at Schneider National. “It will enable efficiencies in our current Roadside Inspection process and provide more granular visibility to violations and data discrepancies that occur at Roadside Inspections, enabling us to correct issues in a more timely and effective manner.

“The robust analytics provided by IMS will allow us to focus on effecting driver behavioral change where needed and actively manage our CSA scores. In short, we are excited to use Vigillo’s IMS solution.”

For the very first time, Vigillo says the IMS allows carriers to enter or upload their master lists of drivers and vehicles and to enter or upload inspections and violations as drivers report them from the field. These master lists are then compared to inspection reports automatically captured daily from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

The Vigillo IMS identifies all mismatches coming from the FMCSA. Missing and erroneous data on inspections, violations, drivers and vehicles is highlighted and available for immediate correction in all Vigillo Scorecard Reports and for optional submission to FMCSA’s DataQ’s system. Vigillo says any FMCSA inspection assigned to a carrier with incorrect DOT, VIN, driver CDL, violations, dates and more will be instantly highlighted, recognizable and actionable. In addition to identifying incorrect data coming from the FMCSA, Vigillo says the IMS also can tag these problems for follow-up and reporting as internal workflow rules dictate.

Benefits of the Vigillo IMS are said to include:

  • Enhanced monitoring and tracking of inspections throughout all departments
  • Timely response to all inspection related issues
  • Ensures all inspections are certified and returned to the states in a timely manner
  • Status tracking of all inspections and violations
  • Reporting and analytics on missing inspections, inspections by state, and inspections by status give a 360 degree view of all inspection/violation activity

“As of today, motor carriers now have a state-of-the-art system that redefines inspection management,” says Steven G. Bryan, CEO of Vigillo. “Every year, motor carriers operating in the United States are subjected to hundreds of thousands of roadside inspections that contain millions of violations attributed to almost five million drivers. High turnover, poor data quality, and CSA just add to the management challenge. The Vigillo IMS is the solution.”
