Grote’s upgrades LED WhiteLight dome lamp

Grote LedGrote Industries has announced that its new 61291 LED WhiteLight recessed-mount dome lamp is in stock and shipping. Grote says it engineered this lamp as an intelligent alternative to fluorescent lamps, particularly for refrigerated environments with subzero temperatures.

Grote says it was the first in the industry to introduce a fluorescent lamp with a low-temperature startup mechanism. Though fluorescent lamps can operate at temperatures as low as 0°F, today’s refrigerated environments can challenge lamps to provide illumination in temperatures as low as -40°F. Grote’s new 61291 provides users with consistent operating performance and lighting quality even in sub-zero temperatures.

According to Grote, the lamp delivers a widespread optic pattern that provides wall-to-wall lighting coverage. The company believes its new 61291 LED WhiteLight recessed-mount dome lamp is particularly well suited for refrigerated applications and those where fluorescent lamps could be subjected to impact or concussion.

“Grote remains the undisputed leader in interior lighting for refrigerated transportation and we have a unique understanding of the industry’s needs,” says Chris Cammack, product manager of WhiteLight LED for Grote Industries. “Our new 61291 brings all of the advantages of LED lighting technology to the reefer environment, including a 50,000-hour service rating.”

The 61291 LED lamp is constructed of a robust, one-piece, powder-coated aluminum housing with a removable polycarbonate lens. Grote says it has a built-in thermal protection device and operates at temperatures ranging from 122°F to -40 °F.

The lamp’s six, high-output diodes generate approximately 1,000 lumens of light output, comparable to that of fluorescent lamps, but draw only about 63 percent of the amperage, the company says. The 61291 features a protected, solid-state circuit board and, unlike a fluorescent lamp, has no ballast or bulb to fail. Grote says the six-diode lamp is as easy to install as Grote’s 10- and 18-diode models.

“We anticipate refrigerated fleets and the food logistics industry to be particularly interested in the lamp,” Cammack says. “When you consider all the benefits, LED dome lamps are just the logical choice for any reefer transporting foodstuffs.”
