Kenworth named one of top 50 green companies in Washington

Kenworth Truck Company was honored as one of the Top 50 Green companies in Washington State by Seattle Business magazine during a special awards banquet Sept. 21 in Seattle.

The Green Washington Awards recognize Washington state organizations that have demonstrated leadership in sustainability by launching initiatives to cut carbon emissions, improve the environment and develop or apply clean technology. The magazine’s Green 50 includes companies, government agencies and non-profits.

Kenworth received a Green 50 award in recognition of its environmentally friendly products, which include aerodynamic trucks, compressed and liquefied natural gas trucks, medium-duty diesel-electric hybrids; and low-emission Paccar MX, PX-8 and PX-6 diesel engines. Also recognized are the efforts of Kenworth’s manufacturing facilities to build Class 8 trucks in an environmentally sustainable manner.

“Kenworth is honored to receive the 2011 GREEN 50 award in recognition of our comprehensive environmental efforts,” says Gary Moore, Kenworth general manager. “Kenworth is an industry leader in offering products that help customers to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.”

Kenworth says it is the only truck manufacturer to receive the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Air Excellence award in recognition of its environmentally friendly products.
