Firestone has committed to a number of initiatives than can contribute to industry-wide weight reductions aimed at reducing carbon emissions through better fuel economy.
According to the company, its work on new lighter-weight parts is one of these initiatives, and Firestone’s next generation air spring will offer weight reductions of up to 1.5 lbs. per spring, a savings of up to 6 lbs. per tandem.

The company says the next generation air spring will meet or exceed current performance levels.
