Truck Centers sponsors food drive

Each month, Operation Food Search, a customer of Truck Centers Inc., distributes more than two million pounds of food and necessities to 265 food pantries, soup kitchens and homeless shelters in 31 Missouri and Illinois counties. Operation Food Search has become the largest distributor of free food in the area, helping to feed about 150,000 people every month.

In the spirit of the season, Truck Centers Inc. is hosting a canned food drive for Operation Food Search at its headquarters in Troy, Ill. Employees, families and members of the community are encouraged to drop off canned goods or packaged foods in the service lobby by Dec. 14h. Items in high demand include canned meats, soups/chili, peanut butter and jelly, rice or pasta, canned vegetables or fruit, pasta sauce, hot/cold cereals, powdered milk, baby food and juice boxes.

Truck Centers owners also are donating $1 for every can donated by team members to Operation Food Search. A team competition is an added bonus for gift cards or donating the cash value back to the charity. Donations are being accepted at Truck Centers’ service department at 2280 Formosa Road in Troy any time between now and 5 p.m. Dec. 14.
