Hino Trucks signs long-term agreement with Allison Transmission

Updated Dec 2, 2011

Hino Trucks and Allison Transmission announced the companies have signed a multi-year long-term agreement that will make Allison transmissions the preferred and exclusive transmission for all current and future Hino conventional trucks in the United States. Since Hino Trucks introduced its conventional truck lineup in 2004, Allison transmissions have been the transmission of choice.

“The Hino-Allison combination has been a great success story in the medium-duty truck industry,” says Jim Wanaselja, vice president of North American marketing, sales and service for Allison Transmission. “This agreement highlights our close working relationship and the importance we both place on offering our joint customers industry-leading products at a greater value.”

Through the new agreement, Hino will be able to offer its customers enhanced transmission coverage on Allison equipped vehicles. All Allison 2000 Highway Series (HS) transmissions will carry a 4-year warranty, and the 2000 and 3000 Rugged Duty Series (RDS) transmissions will carry a 3-year warranty through Hino Trucks starting with the 2012 model year.

“Allison transmissions are the benchmark in the medium-duty truck industry,” says Glenn Ellis, vice president of marketing for Hino Trucks. “This long-term agreement and our joint commitment to work together on bringing new technologies to the market will provide our customers with benefits today and for years to come.”
