Updated Mar 23, 2012

Wabco1WABCO Holdings Inc. has entered into a new long-term agreement with a global truck manufacturer headquartered in the United States to supply innovative twin-cylinder air compression technology to equip diesel engines for premium heavy-duty trucks in series production in the U.S.

This new agreement marks WABCO’s third major customer based in the U.S. that is furnished with the company’s industry-leading air compression technology from its factory in Charleston, S.C., the company says.

According to WABCO, its twin-cylinder technology not only provides high-performance air compression but also significantly improves air quality. As a result, it is said to improve the overall reliability of the complete air brake system. In addition, WABCO’s power reduction capabilities decrease power consumption, thus boosting the vehicle’s fuel economy, particularly in long haul applications, the company says.

“This new long-term agreement with yet another major customer based in the United States further strengthens our global technology leadership in air compression management to improve the safety and efficiency of commercial vehicles,” says Nikhil Varty, WABCO vice president, Americas. “Our passion is to continue setting new standards for air compression performance while enabling our customers in North America and internationally to offer safer, more efficient, high quality trucks.”
