“Combined with the elimination of tariffs on select truck categories, I am confident that the trade facilitation and customs administration provisions in the U.S.-Colombian agreement will boost the export of U.S. manufactured goods to Colombia,” Ustian said.
Ustian also announced an immediate demonstration of the accord’s benefit: This week, Navistar’s first tariff-free trucks will leave the assembly plant in Garland, Texas, bound for Colombia. Navistar’s International PayStar tractors will be employed by sugar growers to move cane from plantations to mills, “strengthening the Colombian agribusiness sector in the process,” Ustian said.
