IMPCO debuts new auxiliary power unit

Updated Jun 27, 2012

IMPCO Technologies has launched its ComfortPro ‘Stand Alone’ diesel auxiliary power unit (APU) for new Class 8 trucks in North America.

IMPCO says the new unit is available exclusively through the Carrier Transicold dealer network in the U.S. and Canada.

“With the addition of this new complementary APU product, IMPCO offers our customers a complete product range of idle reduction solutions for providing comfort and value to fleets and independent operators in North America,” says Richard Nielsen, executive vice president of IMPCO Technologies.

According to IMPCO, the ‘Stand Alone’ APU does not require the modification of connecting into the truck diesel engine coolant system and is fitted with a rigorous duty generator and industrial grade belt systems. The ‘Stand Alone’ APU also avoids “tapping” into the truck’s diesel engine coolant lines while providing the standard features and benefits of the ComfortPro PC 6012 unit, the company says.

“Our new ‘Stand Alone’ product confirms IMPCO’s commitment to the idle reduction business and to its dealer network,” said Jaime Portaluppi, director of sales for the Industrial Division. “As diesel prices continue to climb, idle reduction solutions truly enhance the bottom line for fleets and independent operators. At the same time, cab comfort is recognized as a priority for driver’s retention as the transportation industry recovers. These two drivers are key elements of our continued success in the market place.”
