Fontaine debuts intermodal dropdeck trailer

Updated Sep 21, 2012

Fontaine Trailer on Tuesday, Sept. 18, announced the multipurpose Revolution Hybrid TX dropdeck trailer. The company says that in addition to the advantages offered by its line of Revolution trailers, Hybrid TX models feature twist locks to accommodate two 20-foot containers or one 40-foot container.

The Revolution deck, which Fontaine says is made possible by technology borrowed from the aerospace industry, is built to be lighter and stronger, while the unitized design helps eliminate wracking and flexing as the trailer moves down the highway, reducing road friction, extending tire life and improving fuel economy.

All Fontaine Revolution trailers feature a one-piece extruded aluminum siderail built to withstand impact damage, while an integrated load securement system helps speed and ease loading and unloading. The mainbeam design and construction is backed with the company’s XtremeBeam Limited Lifetime Warranty.

“This product is definitely customer-driven,” says Alan Briley, vice president of sales and marketing. “As more and more fleets and owner-operators take advantage of the North American intermodal rail network, we are right there supporting them with this rugged dual-purpose workhorse that can handle a shipping container, a coil of steel or a load of lumber with equal ease.”
