Omnitek Engineering Corporation will present at NGB Global 2012 Exposition next week in Mexico City.
The presentation, set for 1:30 p.m. local time on Nov. 7, is entitled “Diesel-to-Natural Gas Engine Conversions, Creating Demand for Natural Gas,” and Omnitek says it will address the value-proposition for fleet truck operators in terms of converting diesel engines to operate on natural gas.
“During the 20-year life span of diesel engines, routine overhauls are required and service budgets established in advance. By converting these diesel engines to operate on natural gas during a routine service overhaul, truck operators can realize a significant return on investment, with much lower fuel costs and cleaner combustion,” says Werner Funk, president and CEO for Omnitek Engineering.
Omnitek says additional issues to be addressed in the presentation include:
- The cost benefits of conversions versus new engine replacement
- Limited availability of new natural gas trucks and buses to meet pent-up and future demand
- The long service life of diesel engines offsets new engine replacement proposition regardless of availability
